VW and Audi blocks are notorious for a lack of lateral support at the crankshaft center line. This lack of support can lead to the block and crankshaft bending under high loads. This can lead to excessive bearing wear and block failure. The main bearing girdle prevents distortion and misalignment of the main bearings under extreme performance applications. A must for all high boost turbo applications.
The main bearing girdle also acts as an oil scraper due to its unique design. Installation requires machining of individual bearing cap spacers.
The panel was designed so that the oil pump remains at the original position and does not need to be changed.
Supplied with all bolts (12.9) and washers necessary for installation.
Block stiffening plate of 8 mm high strength S355 steel, suitable for the following engine codes (most 1.8 & 2.0 4 cylinder engines):
PL, KR, 9A, 6A, ABF, PG, 1H, DX, EG
